Curbside Pickup

10 Middlesex County Library locations are currently offering curbside pickup, with the option to receive items by mail still available for those unable to visit during curbside hours. Patrons are able to place items on hold and select their desired pickup location using our online catalogue or the My Library! app. Once notified that items are available for pickup, visit the pickup location during the designated curbside hours. Please bring your library card and adhere to posted directions regarding social distancing.

If you need assistance to please holds, or have any other questions, please call us at 519-245-8237, email us at or chat live on our Contact page.

Patrons will have two weeks to pick-up a hold after being notified that it is available.  Those patrons without an email address on their account will be notified by phone, all others will receive the automated email messages that were in use prior to the closure.

Additional Information

If you are a Virtual Card holder you will need to upgrade your card before checking out items. Please be sure to bring your library card, ID and proof of address when visiting to pickup items.

When searching our online catalogue, you may notice that some items will show up in your search results, but you will not have the option to place them on hold.  These items are temporarily unavailable due to branch closures.  We apologize for this inconvenience, and thank you for your patience while we work through our phased re-opening process.

If you don't yet have a Middlesex County Library card, you can visit anyone of our open locations during curbside hours to get one!  Please bring proof of ID and proof of address (a driver's license covers both); you will be asked to complete a brief registration form.  More details can be found on our Using the Library page

For Patrons of Closed Branches

All holds that were placed prior to, and during the weeks immediately following, our March 17 closure that were for pickup at  closed branches, have had their pickup location changed to a nearby branch open for curbside pickup.  The changed pickup locations are as follows:

  • Coldstream and Delaware were changed to Komoka
  • Melbourne, Newbury and Wardsville were changed to Glencoe

If you would prefer a different pickup location, login to your online account, go to your holds and select your preferred curbside pickup location from the drop down menu.

Items can still be returned in the drop boxes of Coldstream, Melbourne, Newbury and Wardsville.  We are temporarily unable to accept returns at the Delaware Library and apologize for this inconvenience.

Items by Mail

For patrons outside of these communities and those unable to visit a branch during curbside hours, we are still offering Items by Mail.  To use this option simply select "Mail My Items" as the pickup location when placing holds.

Items being mailed are checked out to the patron at the time they're placed in the mail.  Items are checked out for an additional week, to account for time spent in the mail. Books are checked-out out for 4 weeks and DVDs for 2 weeks.

Curbside Pickup Enhancements

Now available at most Curbside Pickup locations: Surprise Bags and Binge Bags! No need to reserve in advance, a selection of Bags are ready for pickup anytime (temporarily unavailable at Strathroy).

Binge Bags for adults are here! Choose from pre-selected themed bags featuring a surprise mix of library materials.

Binge Boxes are available both at curbside, and to be reserved online. Ask staff for details!

DVD binge boxes are now available: themed collections of 3-5 movies in one box.
