Reserve a Room

Middlesex County Library has a number of different spaces that are bookable for public use:

  • program rooms at Dorchester, Glencoe, Komoka, Lucan, Parkhill, Strathroy and Thorndale
  • offices at Dorchester, Glencoe, Lucan, and Parkhill
  • private meeting pods at Ailsa Craig, Komoka, Strathroy and Thorndale
  • study rooms at Dorchester and Glencoe
  • the Music Space at the Glencoe Library.

Room Use Guidelines

Program rooms will be used for programs and approved government, community and social services, and will not be used by external groups for:

  • The solicitation of business, for profit or for fundraising
  • Personal activities or private social functions
  • Purposes that are disruptive to the normal operations of the library
  • Purposes that contravene the law, municipal bylaws or Library policies.

Room Reservation FAQ

What are the steps for booking a room?

Start by clicking the "Reserve a Room Now" button and selecting your booking type. For more information, read our Getting Started with Online Room Reservations guide.

What is the difference between a 'Service Partner' and 'Public' booking?

Service Partners are service agencies that have been pre-approved by Middlesex County Library.  All other bookings are Public. If you believe your organization is a Service Partner, please contact the Supervisor of the branch where the room is located.  

Who can book a room?

Any one 13 years of age or older can make a public booking of an office, study room, pod or the music space. Any one 18 years of age or older can make a public booking of a program room.

Is there a cost to reserve a room?

There is no cost to reserve a room.

Can I reserve a room without a library card?

Yes, reservations can be made without a card. However, using your card can save time by auto-filling certain fields, and allowing you to more easily track your reservations.

Is my online reservation automatically approved?

Requests for program rooms and the music space will be reviewed by staff prior to confirmation.  Reserverations for all other spaces are automatically approved.

How far in advance can I make a room reservation online?

Program rooms can be booked up to 90 days in advance, and the Music Space can be booked up to 60 days in advance. All other spaces can be booked up to 14 days in advance. 

How long can I reserve a room for online?

All rooms must be reserved for a minimum of 30 minutes. Program rooms can be booked for a maximum of 8 hours, study rooms, offices and pods for a maximum of 3 hours, and the Music Space for a maximum of 2 hours. Additional time may be permitted at the descretion of the Branch Supervisor, contact the branch directly for more information. 

Are there limits to how many times I can book a room online?

Program room bookings are limited to 1 booking per day, and a maximum of 16 hours per month.  The Music Space is limited to 1 booking per day, and a maximum of 4 hours per week.  All other spaces are limited to 1 booking per day, and a maximum of 6 hours per week. Additional time may be permitted at the descretion of the Branch Supervisor, contact the branch directly for more information. 

Are there outlets available?

Standard wall outlets are available in all rooms, except for the private meeting pods.

Is there Wi-Fi in all the rooms?

Yes, wi-fi is available in all rooms.

How do I cancel my room reservation? 

Program room reservations can be cancelled online up to 7 days prior to your booking.  All other room reservations can be cancelled online up to 24 hours prior to your booking.  If you are unable to cancel online, please contact the library branch directly.  Contact information can be found in your confirmation email, or on our Locations page.
