Extended Hours

Extended Hours are now available at the Coldstream Library.  

What Are Extended Hours?

Extended Hours allow registered patrons access to the Coldstream Library during hours staff aren’t scheduled. Patrons are able to:

  • browse the collection,
  • borrow materials using a self-check-out,
  • pick up holds,
  • access public computers and Wi-Fi,
  • copy and print,
  • use the library space. 

Library items can still be returned at anytime, using the drop-box outside the branch.

Who Can Use Extended Hours?

Patrons over 18 years of age, with a valid Middlesex County Library card can complete the Extended Hours application to use the service.  Interested patrons can visit any Middlesex Centre library branch, or the Strathroy Library, to complete an application form. Children are able to visit with a parent or guardian.

When are Extended Hours?

Extended Hours are currently:

  • Wednesdays 9:00am - 3:00pm
  • Thursdays 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Saturdays 10:00am-1:00pm

Please note that these hours are subject to change without notice.

How Do I Use Extended Hours?

Patrons who have completed the Extend Hours application can scan their card using the access panel, to enter the Coldstream Library during the above hours. To enter:

  1. Scan your card, enter your PIN when prompoted, then press the green enter button.
  2. Wait a few seconds for the welcome message to display on the screen.
  3. Pull firmly on the handle or press the accessible button to open door.

What If I Need Help During Extended Hours?

In case of emergency, use the provided telephone to call 9-1-1 or call from your own device from a safe location. The Coldstream Library is located at 10227 Ilderton Road, Coldstream N0M 2A0.

Staff at the Strathroy Library are available to assist during Extended Hours. Please call them using the preprogrammed button on the phone next to the self-check-out to:

  • Get help using the library or if you have questions about your account.
  • Report equipment or facilities that need to be serviced.
  • Damage to the library building, equipment or collections.
  • Report minor injuries, or use of the first aid kit.
