Summer at the Library 2024: Adventure Begins Here!

Middlesex County Library invites residents of all ages to join this year’s Summer at the Library: Adventure Begins Here program! Summer at the Library will feature exciting and engaging events, as well as opportunities to read, learn and play all summer long.

When Does Summer at the Library start?

Beginning Tuesday, July 2nd, visit any Middlesex County Library branch to register. Teens will also have the option to participate online.  All ages are invited to join the fun!

How Does Summer at the Library work?

Children ages 2-12 can register at their local Middlesex County Library branch. Once registered, children will get a passport to take home.  Follow the path in the passport, and track each day you read for at least 20 minutes. Bring your passport with you every time you visit the library to earn prize ballots for reaching reading milestones, and to collect up to five badges for completing special tasks and activities.

Teens ages 13-17 can join in our self-guided Summer at the Library: Teen Edition. Visit a branch in person to pick-up your copy of the challenge form, or download and save the fillable PDF. Then, complete the reading and epic challenges listed on the form. For each challenge that you complete, you will earn a prize ballot. Prizes include a $100 gift card of your choice or an Instax Mini camera.

Adults aged 18 and older can visit their local Middlesex County Library branch to receive a Summer at the Library Reading Log and Ballot. Once a Reading Log is complete, they can be submitted to your local library branch for a chance to win our grand prize.

Programs & Activities

Middlesex County Library will be offering a variety of drop-in and registered programs and activities for all ages throughout the summer. Ask for details at your local branch, or visit our online event calendar to learn more.

Do you have children ages 0-6? The summer is the perfect time to check out Middlesex EarlyON! Middlesex EarlyON programs are free for caregivers and children from birth to six-years-old and are open to all families. For more information visit their website, and check our online event calendar.

Enjoy the outdoors this summer by stopping by one of our eight Tales & Trails sites. Tales & Trails sites feature storybooks to enjoy as you walk the trail, as well as stories from our communities. People of all ages can experience the power of storytelling while enjoying the wonders of nature.
