Where are the Children?

The Strathroy Library will soon be hosting the travelling exhibition Where are the Children? Healing the Legacy of the Residential Schools, developed by the Legacy of Hope Foundation.

This exhibition spans more than 125 years of history and includes photographs, documents, text panels, and artefacts dating from the 1880s to the present day. It traces the experiences of Indigenous children who were taken from their homes and placed in residential schools across Canada.

Through powerful imagery and testimony, the exhibition takes visitors through the stages of removal from home, life at school, and the long-term impacts of the residential school system. A section honouring the children who never returned home, along with stories of contemporary Indigenous role models, provides both historical context and a message of resilience.

We encourage all members of the community to take time to engage with this important exhibition and reflect on the ongoing process of truth and reconciliation.

Exhibition Location: Strathroy Library, 34 Frank Street, Strathroy
Exhibition Dates: September 26 to October 4 *excluding Monday, September 29th*
Exhibition Hours: All open hours (Monday-Thursday 9am-8pm, Friday 9am-7pm, Saturday 10am-2pm)
