Using the Library
With a variety of games to choose from, you can borrow quality time, mental workouts and friendly competition from your library!
Board game collections are available at most Middlesex County Libraries; games available varies by location. You can view available games in our online catalogue.
Games are loaned for one week, and can be borrowed by anyone with a valid Middlesex County Library card. Games cannot be placed on hold; they are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Please note that while games can be returned to any Middlesex County Library branch, some games may not fit in exterior drop-boxes.
The Playroom Experiment is an organization that creates inclusive and safe play spaces within communities, and serves young people living with special needs and/or social isolation, with a focus on high schools. It is through the power of gaming that they strive to breed a greater foundation for empathy and understanding.
During the spring of 2022, the Dorchester Library entered into a partnership with The Playroom Experiment, to host events in the library's program room. Events include Community Game Days and Needs Based Family Game Days (for families dealing with Special Needs). To learn more about the events, and to register, visit the The Playroom Experiment's website. For more information you can contact The Playroom Experiment by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to a generous donation of board games from the Playroom Experiment, the Dorchester Library is able to offer an expanded collection of board agmes to patrons, both to play in branch and to borrow. We you invite you to visit the library to see what is available!
